Help U.S. Troops has
partnered with Dubs Etc, a 501c(3) operating in Fredericksburg,
VA for the purpose of supplying home computers to needy
military families at no cost.
Renate Revell, leading tech at Dubs says "We can
provide modern, functional home computers for the use of
military families at zero or very low cost, which gives
families and their children access to the Internet as well
as educational benefits which they otherwise would not be
able to afford."
Help U.S. Troops collects cast-off and surplus computers
of every sort, delivers them to Dubs and also supplies
various components to build complete units useful to
families of Active Duty personnel. These families may
then enjoy online connectivity, educational material, and
provide platforms for learning computer skills which enhance
the family's ability to increase employability and afford a
better income potential.
Efforts are currently under way to provide a number of
computers to families located in the vicinity of Camp LeJeune.
Other programs slated to start involve other Marine, Navy,
Army, Coast Guard and Air Force base locations.
Help U.S. Troops accepts computers and components which
are not more than two generations old for the purpose of
renovation and supplying to needy families, and welcomes
donations of these surplus items from any individual or
entity.
